Two UQ Diamantina Institute researchers have been ranked among ‘The world’s most influential scientific minds’ by multinational media body Thomson Reuters.
Congratulations to Professor Matthew Brown and Professor Peter Visscher, who were both included in the field of Molecular Biology and Genetics. Professor Visscher is also based at UQ’s Queensland Brain Institute.
Inclusion means their research is listed in the top 1% for the number of times their work has been cited by other scientists.
Professors Brown and Visscher have made many major contributions to research in genetics of human diseases, particularly in arthritis, osteoporosis, and schizophrenia.
Professor Brown, Director of UQ Diamantina Institute said “Inclusion in this list reflects the great strength of genetics research at UQ, which is providing major insights into the causes of major human diseases, and shaping the future of medical practice.”
When releasing the list on their website highlycited.com Thomson Reuters said those listed were gauged to be highly cited researchers whose work has consistently been judged by peers to be of particular significance and utility.
“These individuals are influencing the future direction of their fields, and of the world.”
