Never had a cold sore in your life? Are you aged between 18 and 23? And are you generally in good health and willing to give a small blood sample?
Coridon is recruiting volunteers for a study of the incidence of herpes antibodies in young people with no current, or previous, symptoms of infection.
Researchers are currently preparing for a Phase I trial of the genital herpes vaccine and require people of the abovementioned description to assist with their studies.
Tests can occasionally give false positives, and in the absence of clinical signs, a firm diagnosis can not be given. Therefore, individual test results will not be made available to participants. Overall study results, containing no identifying information, will be provided upon request.
This research has been approved by The University of Queensland’s Medical Research Ethics Committee and is being conducted by Coridon, a vaccine development company, founded to commercialise research undertaken by Professor Ian Frazer’s group at UQ.
