Researcher biography

I am an ARC DECRA Research Fellow at The University of Queensland Diamantina Institute (UQDI) where I lead the Vascular Regeneration Group. Prior to joining UQDI, I completed by postdoctoral training at UQ Centre for Clinical Research (2012-2016) and my PhD at the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute. Within UQDI I have established the VRG, where we study the cell/molecular biology and function of vascular stem cells (endovascular progenitors) using mouse and human model systems. Our projects have led to significant publications in top ranking journals including Circulation, Stem Cells and Journal of Investigative Dermatology. I have also successfully internationally patented a stem cell isolation technology that results in clinically relevant quatities of human fetal stem cells from the term placenta that be directly used in treating ischemic injuries (e.g. wound healing, neonatal ischemic braing injury).
