Resources for hSSB1 immersion

All Students: Please download the following papers, read through them and complete the summary table. You will need to bring this table with you for the library session on the first day.

Background information

This document should help with your general understanding of proteins and their role in the DNA repair process in the cell.

Essential reading

  • Hallmarks of Cancer:The next generation by Hanahan and Weinberg.pdf
  • Single-stranded DNA-binding protein hSSB1 is critical for genomic stability by Richard et al.pdf
  • hSSB1 (NABP2/ OBFC2B) is required for the repair of 8-oxo-guanine by the hOGG1-mediated base excision repair pathway by Paquet et.al.
  • hSSB1 interacts directly with the MRN complex stimulating its recruitment to DNA double-strand breaks and its endo-nuclease activity by Richard et.al
  • hSSB1 rapidly binds at the sites of DNA double-strand breaks and is required for the efficient recruitment of the MRN complex by Richard et.al.
