Researcher biography

I am a clinician-researcher whose research focuses on evaluating the ethical, legal and social implications of genetic and genomic technologies. My research is informed by my clinical experience as a genetic counsellor, where I support families undergoing genetic testing, provide genetic risk assessment, and assist families cope and adapt to their genetic diagnosis.

My current research projects include:

  • Evaluating patient reported outcomes and health behaviour associated with genomic testing, including polygenic risk (PGS) and whole exome/genome sequencing
  • Developing PRS and genomics education for genetic and non-genetic healthcare professionals
  • Implementing and evaluating new models of care for genomic testing in the paediatric setting, including mainstreaming and genetic counsellor embedded models
  • Developing patient materials to support informed decision making regarding genomic testing
